Update 2008
Whilst 2007 ended on quite a high note – being back in Singapore & on holidays in Vietnam, 2008 has so far been a bit of a downer with being sick, MAD getting randomly bashed outside a pub and other miscellaneous problems here and there….
So the Jade Forest is going through a time of deforestation and will be back shortly….
Twas the Week before Christmas….
And what a massive weekend I had!! Started off on Friday, MAD & I went to KM’s place (late as usual) and started drinking there… we then headed on to the Belgium Beer Cafe to meet the rest of the ex-Bird crew… and had a couple of drinks there and then we headed off to the Shed… ending the night at the Court Hotel. That’s after er… 1 yaeger bomb, 1 jim bean pre mix can, 3 jacks and coke, dinner, 2 glasses of wine, 1 vodka premix & 1 jim bean premix at 1am…. wat spoilt the evening was waiting for cabs!! We booked a cab and people stole our cabs!! Was most frustrating…. by the time I was home, I was pretty much sobered up….
On Saturday, fighting a semi hangover MAD and I had to go get a dress/shirt/pants for PG’s wedding… she looked awesome that day… am so happy for her!! It was also good to catch up with the ex Opez crew and gloating over how much better off we all are after leaving that crappy place… hopefully the pictures will be on Facebook soon…
Speaking of Facebook, found a couple of long lost uni friends… so is cool to be touching base with them again!!
I have to stop playing Scrabulous before I leave for my holidays else I wont be able to play and I have a feeling I will be having withdrawal symptoms from Scrabble…
On Sunday – I got my hair streaked purple… darkish bluish purple… look kind of like a goth/Morticia from Addams Family… all I need is the white stripe in the middle… ended the weekend with wine with YW and our respective partners…
4 more sleeps to Singapore…. and this time round, my wishlist isnt as crazy as the one in June
Gone MIA for a while…
So I’ve been lazy to update this blog…. so complains ST…. but I’ve been fairly busy (yeah right!) … actually more like still being addicted to Scrabulous on Facebook…. I mean how could a simple game of Scrabble be so addictive?!?!
Other than that, I’ve started going out with MAD and the amount of 20 questions I have gotten from so called friends are pretty amazing. Some questions and attitudes have been uncalled for and too personal… so it’s pissed me off a bit.
As I’ve said before, I’ll be heading back to Singapore for Christmas and then on to Vietnam for Christmas and New Year. As trip organiser, I’ve so far managed to get the flights, and have a rough approximate as to where we’re going. However, the hotels are starting to drive me a little insane! Argh….
I’ve planned a party at my parent’s house on the Saturday before I leave back to Perth. It’ll be an interesting crowd as there’ll be some Perth friends and some Singapore friends… and finally WY can put names to faces when I whinge to her about people
I’ve been contemplating if I should attend some courses to be a dog groomer…. it’s seriously a money making thing…. I tried to book the dogs in for an appointment and have had to wait like 3 weeks! Each dog (for me) costs $45 per hair cut per dog…. do the maths! But like what WY reminded me, she doesn’t think I’ll last long doing this as I’m more prone to a desk job
Kickapoo – Joy Juice?
It’s one of those days where I woke up on the wrong side of the bed… Everybody and everything is irritating me… here’s a list of stuff already happened….
1. ordered chicken rice to take away, they put it on a plate
2. ordered curry puff as an extra – they gave me fried chicken instead
3. dropped my phone in the car, couldn’t find it, in the process kept knocking my head, and the bridge of my sunnies somehow got warped
4. people at work asking me DUMB questions
5. wanted to go spa but partner in crime not able to go
So, I bought a can of Kickapoo – Joy Juice in the hope that it would bring me some JOY… well it hasn’t happened yet
We’re in the 4th Quarter!!
Yup 4th Quarter of 2007… where has all the time gone? Well I can tell you that for the last month most of my time has been taken up with Facebook! It’s really addictive. What has made it worse is I’ve found scrabble, tetris and pacman – 3 of my favourite childhood games. The only reason why I am able to update this blog tonite is becoz scrabble is undergoing an upgrade…. which means I am having withdrawal symptoms from playing scrabble. That’s ok… I’ve found noggin… but that u have to play continuously for 3 minutes….
On another exciting note… the birth givers have decided that we’re to spend Christmas in Vietnam. So I’ve been given the task of organising the trip. And I better get started on that soon… before the nagging starts
Mission Accomplished
So I managed to feed the masses at camp – total number being 100 people. People thought I cooked most of the food that went out to feed them…. on the contrary I had actually arrowed people to cook. My job was just organising people to cook and hopefully they had enough and to heat up the food in time for lunch and dinner together with my helpers. I have to admit I got pretty stressed out and became a grumplin…. and also a kitchen mummy…. where people who came into the kitchen asking dumb questions got told to piss off.
All in all, people said I did a pretty good job and that I can do it again next year. My reply… I’ve retired. I mean seriously, I dont think I want to go through a week of sleepless nights again stressing out if there would be enough food!!
Feeding of the Masses
OK so once again I’ve been put in charge of food and this time it’s the church camp. And this time round I am seriously getting stressed out as there’s approximately 80 people to feed for 3 days and 2 meals each day!! I’ve had to organise people to cook and that was an effort in itself as not everybody is going to camp… and those that are cooking don’t want to cook for more than 30 people, so that means finding more people to cook the same stuff! Admittedly this has given me a couple of sleepless nights…. Now the organisation of the food is done, I have to buy the fresh vegetables, refreshments, etc to feed the people…. and my constant worry of is it enough food lingers at the back of my mind!!
How did Jesus feed the 5000 people and STILL have leftovers?
The Office
The office is growing with more people coming in to work on projects. Some time ago I posted about the office idiot…. now there’s more idiots like him around…. So now these 2 office idiots have to work together so I’ve nicknamed them Dumb & Dumber – so the original office idiot is Dumb and the newbie is Dumber…. So what has Dumber done to earn this nickname?
He walked into the office one day and I said are you here to see Dumb? And Dumber said no I’m here to see you. So I said erh… yeah ok what do you want. And he said to me that he had emailed me several emails for me to print out colour brochures for him…. So I said I never got them and asked what email address has he sent to. The email address he told me he had sent to was my boss’s email address…. So I said that it wasnt my email address and it’s the boss’s email address and incidentally the boss was in Singapore for a couple of days…. Then dumber said oh but I was told to just send it over here and you’ll print it out…. so I thought you’ll receive it when I send it to that email address…
It then took me a further 5 minutes to explain to dumber that when the boss says send it over, it means to send to me and he’ll need my email address to send do and not to the boss’s. Dumber couldn’t understand that he thought it’s like a house address send to one email address and everyone gets it!! To make matters worse, Dumber did not know that photocopiers had the capacity to photocopy both sides of a paper… I can foresee my tolerance isn’t going to last very long with Dumb & Dumber :S
Real Life Law & Order
It’s been news in Oz for the last couple of days… this little girl nicknamed Pumpkin was found in a train station in Melbourne – a security camera caught her and a man walking hand in hand in the train station and then the man was seen leaving the train station alone and the girl left in the train station. Turns out that she was left there by her father and then the father has done a runner to the US. Also they’re not even Aussies but from NZ!! So now we have 3 countries searching for this elusive father and now it also maybe that Pumpkin’s mother is also MIA.
Can you imagine this on an episode on Law & Order either Criminal Intent or Special Victims Unit? HHmmmm they might do a cross over episode…
Anyway, I do feel sorry for this little girl. Imagine the stigma that she has to grow up knowing that she was dumped. And she’s 3 years old. She would be aware of what is going on more so than if a baby was dumped.
On the brighter side of things, these people are from China and they all have hanyu pinyin names and it’s absolutely hilarious hearing their names pronounced here by the news readers who can’t quite pronounce hanyu pinyin… it’s like a tongue twister…
For more news on this little girl, just google ‘pumpkin, lost child’ and you’ll get heaps of news articles
