Twas the Week before Christmas….

And what a massive weekend I had!! Started off on Friday, MAD & I went to KM’s place (late as usual) and started drinking there… we then headed on to the Belgium Beer Cafe to meet the rest of the ex-Bird crew… and had a couple of drinks there and then we headed off to the Shed… ending the night at the Court Hotel. That’s after er… 1 yaeger bomb, 1 jim bean pre mix can, 3 jacks and coke, dinner, 2 glasses of wine, 1 vodka premix & 1 jim bean premix at 1am…. wat spoilt the evening was waiting for cabs!! We booked a cab and people stole our cabs!! Was most frustrating…. by the time I was home, I was pretty much sobered up….

On Saturday, fighting a semi hangover MAD and I had to go get a dress/shirt/pants for PG’s wedding… she looked awesome that day… am so happy for her!! It was also good to catch up with the ex Opez crew and gloating over how much better off we all are after leaving that crappy place… hopefully the pictures will be on Facebook soon…

Speaking of Facebook, found a couple of long lost uni friends… so is cool to be touching base with them again!! :D I have to stop playing Scrabulous before I leave for my holidays else I wont be able to play and I have a feeling I will be having withdrawal symptoms from Scrabble…

On Sunday – I got my hair streaked purple… darkish bluish purple… look kind of like a goth/Morticia from Addams Family… all I need is the white stripe in the middle… ended the weekend with wine with YW and our respective partners…

4 more sleeps to Singapore…. and this time round, my wishlist isnt as crazy as the one in June :)

Gone MIA for a while…

So I’ve been lazy to update this blog…. so complains ST…. but I’ve been fairly busy (yeah right!) … actually more like still being addicted to Scrabulous on Facebook…. I mean how could a simple game of Scrabble be so addictive?!?!

Other than that, I’ve started going out with MAD and the amount of 20 questions I have gotten from so called friends are pretty amazing. Some questions and attitudes have been uncalled for and too personal… so it’s pissed me off a bit.

As I’ve said before, I’ll be heading back to Singapore for Christmas and then on to Vietnam for Christmas and New Year. As trip organiser, I’ve so far managed to get the flights, and have a rough approximate as to where we’re going. However, the hotels are starting to drive me a little insane! Argh….

I’ve planned a party at my parent’s house on the Saturday before I leave back to Perth. It’ll be an interesting crowd as there’ll be some Perth friends and some Singapore friends… and finally WY can put names to faces when I whinge to her about people :D

I’ve been contemplating if I should attend some courses to be a dog groomer…. it’s seriously a money making thing…. I tried to book the dogs in for an appointment and have had to wait like 3 weeks! Each dog (for me) costs $45 per hair cut per dog…. do the maths! But like what WY reminded me, she doesn’t think I’ll last long doing this as I’m more prone to a desk job :P

We’re in the 4th Quarter!!

Yup 4th Quarter of 2007… where has all the time gone? Well I can tell you that for the last month most of my time has been taken up with Facebook! It’s really addictive. What has made it worse is I’ve found scrabble, tetris and pacman – 3 of my favourite childhood games. The only reason why I am able to update this blog tonite is becoz scrabble is undergoing an upgrade…. which means I am having withdrawal symptoms from playing scrabble. That’s ok… I’ve found noggin… but that u have to play continuously for 3 minutes….

On another exciting note… the birth givers have decided that we’re to spend Christmas in Vietnam. So I’ve been given the task of organising the trip. And I better get started on that soon… before the nagging starts :D

The Office

The office is growing with more people coming in to work on projects.  Some time ago I posted about the office idiot…. now there’s more idiots like him around….  So now these 2 office idiots have to work together so I’ve nicknamed them Dumb & Dumber – so the original office idiot is Dumb and the newbie is Dumber….  So what has Dumber done to earn this nickname?

He walked into the office one day and I said are you here to see Dumb?  And Dumber said no I’m here to see you.  So I said erh… yeah ok what do you want.  And he said to me that he had emailed me several emails for me to print out colour brochures for him…. So I said I never got them and asked what email address has he sent to.  The email address he told me he had sent to was my boss’s email address…. So I said that it wasnt my email address and it’s the boss’s email address and incidentally the boss was in Singapore for a couple of days…. Then dumber said oh but I was told to just send it over here and you’ll print it out…. so I thought you’ll receive it when I send it to that email address…

It then took me a further 5 minutes to explain to dumber that when the boss says send it over, it means to send to me and he’ll need my email address to send do and not to the boss’s.  Dumber couldn’t understand that  he thought it’s like a house address send to one email address and everyone gets it!!   To make matters worse, Dumber did not know that photocopiers had the capacity to photocopy both sides of a paper…  I can foresee my tolerance isn’t going to last very long with Dumb & Dumber :S

Pink

No…. not a fan of the artist Pink but I got my hair streaked pink again and this time it turned out really really good :) Here’s some of the pics from the back…. Photos courtesy of EC’s new camera ;)

Attitude and Tolerance

OK… so for those who know me will know that I have an extreme low tolerance for people… people who I think are ‘dumb’, irritating, gets on my nerves, fake, superficial, etc. For these people, I just put on a fake smile or fake expression that those who know me will be able to pick out when I give these fake smiles or sometimes, I just ignore them. If they can be fake then so can I. There are quite a few people in that category :) Having said that, I make no apologies for being who I am, friends can either accept me for who I am or dont bother being my friend.

Anyway, last week there was a farewell dinner & bowling night for a friend who will be moving to Singapore for work. Actually he said he will only be in Singapore for one year… so really, to a certain extent I didn’t quite understand the big ‘hoo hah’ abt this farewell that had 50 people attending – the organisers admitted that it was like a mini nightmare wedding…. and we kept getting msn and email reminders that if we bail out of the dinner we still have to fork out $15.

So off I went to this farewell… the only positive thing was that it was just down the road from my house. When I got there, the first thing that irritated me was people who I thought are my friends did not reserve a seat for me at the TS3 table…. but consolation came when I saw J&ST sitting at another table and so I headed off to sit with them. Later on, as the table filled up, but it was filled with some people who fall under the above category of people I find irritating…. so immediately, the fake smile and facial expression lighted up.

As dinner was abt to commence, the organisers realised that we had 12 people on our table and there was 7 on another table… and so they started asking 3 people to move to the other table. OK here’s the stupid part… the 7 on that table, was from another group… so really, wouldnt we be uncomfortable moving to an unknown table – like I said it was like a mini wedding…. but on the other hand, I thought it would be only courtesy that the last 3 who arrived on our table should do the right thing and move to the other table – afterall we actually made room for one of that other 3 people that came last…. but no… they just sat on their arses…

Next, JT tried to get himself and 2 other guys to go to the other table of 7 – but one of the other guys being a total wimp did not want to be moved as he wanted to be seated with his other friend and gf. So that idea was canned. By that time, I was getting seriously sick of the whole thing. Sure I could have said I’ll move, but hey why should I move when I wasnt the last to arrive?

So in the end, nobody moved and then comments were said that since there was 12 of us and food was only for 10 on each table, there might be insufficient food but they will pass down food from the table of 7. So by that time, I got tired of the whole issue and decided to walk out of the dinner. So walked out I did. ST said to me that I wasted my $15 but seriously, I would rather have wasted my $15 than to sit with a whole bunch of hypocrites who call themselves leaders in the church or serve in some aspect of the various church committees. After I walked out I sent txt msgs to 2 people telling them I had left the dinner and they didn’t bother to reply straight away, rather waited till after the whole thing to send me a msg on msn and to reply at abt 11 ish. On hindsight, I think that was a stupid thing for me to have done.

What finally topped it was at cell on Saturday, the same friend that I considered a friend but didn’t bother to reserve a seat for me in the first place commented to me that me walking out showed that I had a ‘bad attitude’ for walking out. However, this person who said that is at the moment battling an attitude of being anti-cell and anti-church which I think it’s worse than me with an attitude of walking out coz I was sick of people… but hey, who am I to comment since I have a bad attitude? :P

Back

So I’ve made it back from Singapore… and if you’ve read the comments from Bloh on the post before I left, you would know that I have very satisfactory completed my shopping list…. :)

This trip has been a lot of ‘firsts’ for me….

1.  First GEC

2. First trip to Pengeran for eating

3.  First MacBook

4. First gift from Brazil courtesy of ST

5. First time flying Tiger Air

6. First time hearing EC sing ‘live’

And this is my first post using my new Mac…. I’ll write more later and add some photos – once my tech support arrives and I get to ask all my silly questions :)

First GEC 2007

So I finally made it back to the annual GEC after so many years. It was pretty full on from the minute I reached home… Finally got to see mission control and how everything is run. In addition, I got to play mentor as well to one of the teams…. and YSF and I got to choose our own teams coz we were given the responsibility to allocate teams :) Incidentally, YSF’s team won and represented Singapore in the GEC.

The first day and the first hour or so, the kids were all pretty quiet and didn’t really interact with one another. By mid morning things were starting to warm up… by the time the challenge was issued at 5pm, they were already exchanging their mobile numbers and emails, planning an all nighter to hang out and play LAN Games or to work on their challenge. It was an interesting experience to see how a diverse group of students from JCs, Int’l Schools, Poly & ITE can come together as a team and their interaction with one another.

By the next morning, they were all out together going shopping and eating and realising that they have several things in common to talk about. By the time GEC came to a closure, I heard things like “Hey dont forget to stay in touch!” – which I thought was pretty cool. Actually, I think GEC could be the now defunct SDU as we’ve seen and heard rumours of previous GEC participants becoming boyfriends and girlfriends.

So here’s a couple of pics from GEC ….
